The
safety of students, school district personnel, and physical assets are
of vital concern to school districts and their patrons. A good safety
and security program provides for a balanced approach of prevention,
intervention and enforcement. Proper safeguards must be in place, which
include hardware and equipment, security personnel, and plans for preventative
measures to deter crime. (Texas School Performance Review,

Lovejoy secondary schools will
have no police force in Lucas, Collin County patrols 848 square miles
and has said response time would be slower than Allen's. Lovejoy has
not contacted the Sheriffs' department to discuss safety of our
children and sheriff department response time. (Lt.
Smart at Collin County Sheriff's Office)

While the Lucas volunteer
fire department does an excellent job given available resources,
response times depend on volunteer availability. Most volunteers have
8-5 jobs, the same time our kids are in school. Lucas fire department
volunteers donate their time and are willing to risk their
lives for the Lucas community. They are NOT getting paid. These are
dads and moms who have families and most have full time jobs. Is
it fair to ask them to do more? Lucas residents also donate money
to support our volunteer fire department. Will we be forced to hire
a paid fire department?
Who will foot the bill?
-
Allen has a paid and fully
staffed fire department on call 24 hours a day.
-
Please ask your board for a security
plan. How will it be financed? Will Lucas City taxpayers foot
the bill?
-
Will kids with discipline
problems be housed with the rest of the kids in Lovejoy secondary
school? Allen has the Dillard center to separate discipline problem
kids.
New information not included in the flyer....
-
With only 512 parking spaces
will patrons be forced to park along 2170 endangering themselves
and travelers?
